Hello, saints!

I wanted to, first of all, thank EVERYONE who played a part in making Sunday a special day for me!  I so much appreciate every act of service, every kind word, and every gracious gift that was done to honor me for Pastor’s Appreciation Day.

I have heard some horror stories before from pastors of how their congregation treats them, and I am so happy to be able to say that the people of High Point have always done such a great job of honoring me and my family and make the work of the ministry as painless as possible.

So I say all of this to say THANK YOU, and I wanted to thank some specific people that put a lot of themselves into this day – HPC’s Elders:

A big thanks to Minton Williams & Mark Harville who are the ring leaders for Pastor’s Appreciation Day every year, organizing & orchestrating this special day. Also, a big thanks to Bruce Van Bibber & Debbie Silvey, who also do a lot with it from the communicating of it all, the decorating, helping with the luncheon, etc.  So a big thank you to HPC’s Elders for ALL you do in October every year!

And, of course, there are more than just our elders that help out – particularly with the luncheon part.  There is also Sonia Duggan, BJ Williams, Liz Fabian, Mary Troyer, Michelle Collins, Marsha Van Bibber, Susie Harper, Angela Scott, the Ruth House ladies, and the Lighthouse Men.  I’m sure I’m missing others who help out too, but a big thanks to EVERYONE for their labor of love!  I APPRECIATE ALL Y’ALL!

As for the service, we entered a transition in the 23rd Psalm where David switches from using the analogy of a shepherd and his sheep to the example of an honorable host.  And on Sunday, we looked the fact that the LORD prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies.  This message included us accepting the invitation to the LORD’s supper, how our response to our enemies is critical to supping with Him, and how Mephibosheth was a perfect picture of us having the opportunity to dine with the Lord continually.

Here’s what is going on this week:

1.   The Pastor’s Study live video will be held Wednesday night @ 5:30 this week, where we will continue our study of Ephesians.  So join me on our Facebook page tomorrow night!  If you haven’t joined the FB group or if you need help finding it, just let me know.

2.   Our Wednesday Evening Prayer / Bible Study group meets on Wednesday night @ 7 PM.  Come join us in the House of Expectation for these great times of fellowship, Bible study, and prayer!

3. Healing School meets every Thursday morning @ 10:30 AM in the House of Expectation.  This week, I will continue our new study of the healings in the Book of Acts entitled “Healing Acts.”

Finally, don’t forget to grab a November calendar this coming Sunday if you didn’t last week!

One very special thing happening at HPC this coming month is that this Sunday on November 1st is the ordination of my wife, Shannon!  Yes, Shannon will be ordained for the ministry, meaning we will pray over her and she will also minister the Word to us this coming Sunday!  Come join us this week!

P.S. Don’t forget that this weekend is Daylight Savings Time.

Victoriously,

Pastor Trey Dickerson
