Greetings, family!
Speaking of family, you know, this is my favorite synonym for the term “church.” It’s because while the Greek word for church literally describes those who are called out & chosen, the Lord’s church is called out to be one body. Therefore, if we are one body, then we are certainly one “family.”
Now there is indeed just one family, and that is everyone who is born again and a part of the universal church. But there are subcategories of “family” in the body of Christ as well and that describes those whom you fellowship with and gather together with on a regular basis.
I bring this up because we here at High Point Church believe in this. So I wanted to remind everyone that I plan to open it up for people to join the church this coming Sunday. We already have a good crop of folks who are planning on, so if you believe the LORD has planted you here at High Point and would like to officially become a part of our church family, please let me know this week.
This past Sunday morning, we celebrated communion together and learned more about our “Good Shepherd” from our new series, “The Good Life” (A study of the 23rd Psalm). In this message, we learned how Jesus came to give us an abundant life through His goodness. But we also learned what being the Lord’s sheep looks like – namely, us being called by name, hearing & knowing His voice, and being led by Him.
I’ve attached the High Points notes for the past three weeks as we have been covering the phrase “The Lord is my Shepherd” for a while now. Enjoy! The video of the sermon will be posted tonight (Tuesday) on our Facebook page @ 7 PM. FYI – We had some issues with the new HPC YouTube page that we created a couple of weeks ago, so we are going back to the older one. Here’s the link to it – HPC YouTube Channel. Be sure to subscribe and click on the little bell for notifications.
Here’s our schedule for this week:
1. The Pastor’s Study live video will be held Wednesday night @ 5:30 this week where we will begin a look at the Book of Ephesians. As those who attend on Wednesdays will attest to, I like to chew slowly on these verse-by-verse studies. So I say that to say that hopefully we won’t be on this Book of the Bible for a couple of years Join me on our Pastor’s Study Facebook group Wednesday night!
2. Our Wednesday Evening Prayer / Bible Study group meets on Wednesday night @ 7 PM. Come join us for these great times of fellowship, as we study the Book of First Peter together and then pray! Come join us!
3. Healing School meets Thursday morning @ 10:30 AM in the House of Expectation, and we are coming to a conclusion with our look at “Healing’s Top 25.” Come get yourself in the atmosphere of God’s miracle working power!
4. Our Iron Forge young adult meeting is this Thursday night @ 6:30 in the House of Expectation. This month, the Dickerson’s will provide the meal and then Shannon will lead us in a Bible Study together. All you young(er) people are welcome to join us!
5. Finally, both the Men’s and Women’s breakfasts will be held this coming Saturday morning. We needed to do them on the same Saturday this month because we have other events on every other Saturday in September. So the ladies will be meeting at the familiar IHOP on Tom Hill, but the guys will be at the IHOP on Mercer University. Both of these meetings will begin at 9 AM. Shannon and I hope you can make it!
See y’all on Sunday as we look at the next phrase in Psalm 23 – “I shall not want!”
