Good afternoon, church family!  And I wanted to begin today by welcoming the newest members of our church family:

  • Cynthia Dickerson
  • Zack Chafee
  • Lacey Brister
  • Spencer Hood
  • Britt & Jamie Bridges
  • Keith & Pam Lusk
  • Justin & Jessica Hughes

We welcome y’all to the fellowship of High Point and are overjoyed to have you as a part of our church body!

I did want to let y’all know that I had a few people express interest in joining after I had already finalized the list – and most of these are people who have attended the church for some time, but just realized that they never had formally joined.  And so I wanted to open it up again for anyone else who might desire to join them.

So if maybe you are someone who has come to the church for a while, and you just never joined for whatever reason but would like to do it now, you won’t be alone!  Just get with me if you desire to join this group in the next week or two.

Along with adding these new members on Sunday morning, we continued in our new series, “The Good Life” (A study of the 23rd Psalm) by looking at the second “verse” of verse one – “I shall not want.”  In this message, we learned what the Hebrew word for “want” means and how when David said this, he wasn’t thinking about spiritual things.

You see, while the majority of the church likes to spiritualize God’s promises, this was not the heart or intent of those who wrote these things.  No, David was talking about not lacking with physical, natural things.  So we looked at how the good life God desires to give us includes meeting all of our physical needs as well as the spiritual ones.

Td the video of the sermon will be posted tonight (Tuesday) on our Facebook page @ 7 PM and on our YouTube channel.  Here’s the link to it – HPC YouTube Channel. Be sure to subscribe and click on the bell for notifications.

Here’s our schedule for this week:

1.  The Pastor’s Study live video will be held tonight (Tuesday) @ 5:30 where we have just started a study of the Book of Ephesians.  As those who attend on Wednesdays will attest to, I like to chew slowly on these verse-by-verse studies.  So I say that to say that hopefully we won’t be on this Book of the Bible for a couple of years.  Join me on our Pastor’s Study Facebook group tonight!

2.   Our Wednesday Evening Prayer / Bible Study group meets on Wednesday night @ 7 PM.  Come join us for these great times of fellowship, as we study the Book of First Peter together and then pray!  Come join us!

3.  Healing School meets Thursday morning @ 10:30 AM in the House of Expectation, and we are concluding our look at “Healing’s Top 25” by looking at Lazarus’ Resurrection, arguably the most miraculous of Jesus’ ministry!  We will also be going to McAllisters afterwards this Thursday for anyone who wants to join us.

See y’all on Sunday as we move into Psalm 23:2 and look at the phrase – “He makes me lie down in green pastures.”

Victoriously,
Pastor Trey Dickerson
